Faro del Cabo San Agustín

The small chapel located at the Cabo de San Agustín, next to the lighthouse, was founded by the fishermen’s guild of the port of Ortiguera to give shelter to the Virgen de la Caridad, patron saint of their guild.

In this chapel a mass was held for the fishermen as thanksgiving for not having suffered any mishap on their return from fishing, and here they spread out their cotton nets to dry.

From this point you can see the boats arriving at the port of Ortiguera after a hard day’s fishing and the entrance to the Navia estuary, which can be a spectacle as it is a dangerous enclave on days with strong waves.
